William J. Atkins takes readers on an international journey with Trey Cowens

searches for his biological family in his debut novel “The Blood of Zealots”

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (January 26, 2012) – In his first novel, “The Blood of Zealots” (ISBN 9780615447995), William J. Atkins combines current and historical events, political and religious conflicts with cutting-edge science in one man’s journey of self-discovery. Readers with an interest in the global events shaping our world today and developments in science and technology will find Atkins’ work to be more than a mere novel.

Trey Cowens is driven to the couch of a breathtakingly beautiful hypnotherapist after repeatedly ending up in compromised circumstances. Following much soul searching, Trey realizes he must physically hunt for the family he never knew. One DNA test later, Trey takes off for Ireland to look for his mother’s family and finds much more than he expected. Trey’s quest is soon thrown off track, when he’s forced to flee Ireland. Trey traces his father’s lineage to the Middle East where he is catapulted into a world of conflicting ideologies. Though he is searching for his biological family, Trey discovers much more: love, espionage, murder and zealotry, in all of its forms, combine to make “The Blood of Zealots” both a fascinating read and study of the human condition.

Inspired by his own search for a biological parent, Atkins takes readers on a fascinating trek across continents and into a hauntingly realistic story-world where zealotry and ideology collide and coalesce on multiple fronts. Painted against the backdrop current global crises, this modern, international fiction is sure to have readers questioning what they think they know about themselves and the world around them. All strains of humanity are inextricably bound – one man’s terrorist is another’s patriot, one man’s lover is another’s enemy.
